FallShield setup

Install FallShield in four steps.

Install the software, connect your cameras in Control Center, choose how alerts work, and complete a quick test.

Installation guide

Follow these steps in order.

This page covers the normal home setup. The detailed guide includes installer screenshots and troubleshooting notes.

Download the Windows installer, open it from your Downloads folder, and approve the Windows security prompt. Choose Default setup, accept the license on the first installation, and keep the default component choices.

The installer downloads and installs the required software automatically. This may take 5 to 20 minutes, depending on your internet speed and which components are already installed.

On the final page, enter a useful system location, leave Run FallShield now selected, and click Finish.

If you have not downloaded the installer yet, download here ›

If security software blocks the installer, approve the file or follow the McAfee helper instructions ›

For Tapo Wi-Fi cameras, first add each camera with the Tapo mobile app. In the camera settings, create a camera username and password. Using the same credentials for all cameras makes setup easier.

1

Make sure the cameras and the FallShield computer are connected to the same local network.

2

Open FallShield Control Center and select the camera setup page.

3

Enter the camera username and password, then click Rescan.

4

Confirm the preview, rename each camera, select Use this camera, and adjust the privacy blur if needed.

Integrated and USB cameras do not require a camera username or password. For Tapo preparation details, see Configure cameras ›

Place cameras for a clear view of possible falls

Show as much of the floor and the person’s full body as possible. Use the live preview in Control Center while adjusting each camera.

Good placement

A room corner with a broad view of the floor, sofa, bed, and walking area.

Avoid

Bright windows, blocked floor areas, or angles that cut off part of a person’s body.

View the camera placement guide ›

Open the SafetySense tab in FallShield Control Center and choose the mode that fits your setup.

Demo mode

No account is required. Monitoring runs locally and alerts appear on the computer screen only.

Trial or paid service

Log in or create an account to enable forwarded alerts. A phone number is optional and is needed only for SMS alerts.

The one-month trial does not require a credit card. Camera credentials stay in Control Center and are separate from your SafetySense account login.

Before relying on FallShield, confirm that every selected camera is live and perform a careful test with another person nearby.

1

Open the camera view and verify that your full body and the floor are clearly visible.

2

Slowly and safely move into a lying position on the floor. Do not deliberately fall.

3

Confirm that an on-screen alert appears. With a connected Trial or paid account, also confirm the enabled email or SMS alert.

If the alert appears, the basic setup is complete. Repeat the test for each camera and after changing camera placement.

If detection does not trigger, improve the lighting and camera angle, confirm that the camera is selected for use, and review the testing guide ›
